Founded in 1996, TKS, Inc. (formerly Trakus, Inc.) creates real-time measurement of athletic performance through a three part system that:
- gathers data from the playing area through proprietary wireless spread spectrum and laser technology
- processes this data through the use of proprietary chip technology
- displays the data as entertaining information through graphics workstations for television broadcasters or for use on the web.
The overall system is called ELAPS (Electronic Local Area Positioning System). The end product is opening a new category in the sports industry called Digital Sports Information (DSI). If properly executed, TKS, Inc. will become the predominant gatekeeper for this category for the foreseeable future.
